Bio
Hi, I Am Janae Nelson
Janae Nelson is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), with a Masters Degree of Social Work from the University of Utah. Janae has over 17 years of counseling experience.
Janae’s years of experience has created an understanding of challenging manipulative self absorbed relationship patterns. She is passionate about teaching those patterns to others so they can find self empowerment, confidence, and boundaries. Janae has also worked extensively with active duty service members, veterans, and military spouses/families. She has been trained in trauma and trauma processing techniques (to include EMDR and HMR).
Janae’s philosophy continues to develop with each experience and life story she is privileged to hear. She currently believes the heart of struggles in life is mostly rooted in trauma. She focuses on individual counseling, relationship counseling, trauma processing, and really finding a way for others to move forward in their lives in a healthier way.
Janae has been fortunate to work with many clients over the years with moderate to severe dissociation. Dissociation is a component of trauma and can occur in differing degrees. Janae’s skills in managing dissociation have improved the effectiveness of the therapeutic process. This has been an excellent added component to Janae’s repertoire.
Janae has been married for over sixteen years. She has two boys who challenge her and bring much laughter and fun to her life. Both of Janae’s boys struggle with allergies, food issues, ADHD symptoms, and are Autistic. Janae’s involvement with her sons has given her many resources and experiences that greatly enhance her counseling ability. Janae never gives up on finding an alternative way to move forward and find the best options for herself, her family, and her clients. Janae earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Arts with an emphasis in Piano Performance. Music is a large part of Janae’s life and music tends to find its way into the healing process. Janae enjoys spending time with her family, trail runs in the mountains, and expanding her basis of knowledge in many different ways.
